Arabic Language

The Language of the Qur'an

The Qur'an was revealed in the Arabic language as spoken by the people of its time.  They were the most eloquent generation of Arabs; however, the Qur'an was more eloquent.  It left them awestruck and incapacitated from immitating it despite the Qur'an challenging its opponents with its immitation and emphatic negation of their ability to do so.  It was the greatest miracle of the Prophet ï·º and is still existent until today.  It contains rules, wisdoms, accounts of the past and future, and preachings for mankind to benefit from. Furthermore, Allah promised that it would be protected from perversion.  After 1,400 years it remains unperverted - just as promised.

The Language of the Prophet ï·º

The Prophet ï·º spoke Arabic and his hadith was recorded in Arabic.  His blessed and precious words were etched in the hearts of those believers who heard him.  Then they conveyed his Sunnah to those who came after and so on until it reached us.  Those statements and traditions are in the Arabic language.  They offer abundant insight into his life and the social, political, and ecoomic situation of his era.  Vast details were recorded regarding relationships with various people and tribes, and of numerous incidents that occurred during his lifetime.  All of these reports shed light on the correct path, the beautiful manners, the wise behaviors, and the proper conduct.

The Language of the Scholars

The great scholars of Islam elaborated on the meanings of the Qur'anic verses and Sunnah of the Prophet ï·º in the Arabic language.  They also documented their legal opinions (ijtihad) and their madhhabs so they can be followed and taught.

Arabic: The Protector

Preserving the Arabic language preserves the religious knowledge and its proper understanding.  It aids the person in understanding the religion without passing through filters of foreign language translations.  One gets to hear, read, and understand the actual words of the Qur'an and the reported sayings of the Prophet ï·º.
